"Very insightful and best of all - gives encouragement that it is more than possible and well worth pursuing."

-Susan Thatcher, Islington Council

This course makes recruitment, management and engagement of volunteers easy. It examines volunteers' and organisations' motivations and expectations, as well as the concepts of co-production and use of non-hierarchical teams.

Participants on this course will learn:

  • Identify reasons individuals volunteer and why these motivations are central to ensuring productive voluntary work and content volunteers.

  • Learn to create roles for volunteers, and how to recruit and publicise these opportunities.

  • Develop skills in retaining volunteer involvement: inductions, support and appraisals.

  • Facilitate diverse volunteer roles, including digital and online volunteering.

  • Understand the legal terms and parameters outlined in Voluntary Employment Law.

  • Introduce and implement co-production and non-hierarchical structures in volunteer relationships.

The day includes plenty of group work, exercises and discussion – you definitely won’t be staring at power point all day. You’ll also be given lots of opportunities to discuss your own experiences and develop personal strategies to support your work.

Who should attend this course?
